Welcome to Wound Care Services at Community

Chronic wounds are sores that don’t heal within about three months. Each year, these wounds — typically caused by diabetes, poor circulation or other health-related disorders — keep three million to five million Americans from living life to its fullest.

At Community, we treat both acute and chronic wounds. Our approach is to provide comprehensive wound management — from assessment to treatment, and education to ongoing evaluation and support. Our outpatient clinic, The John C. Harris Wound Healing Center, is accredited by The Joint Commission, the nation’s oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body in healthcare — and we take that accreditation seriously.

How do you know if you need advanced wound care?

If you and your physician believe specialized treatment is needed, they may submit a referral to us on your behalf. You might need advanced wound treatment if you have:

  • A wound that hasn't improved after a month
  • A leg or foot ulcer due to poor circulation
  • A cut, incision or injury that just won't heal
  • A pressure sore as a result of reduced mobility

We believe collaboration is a key component in healing. Our specialists and nurses are part of a team dedicated to helping you succeed on your healing journey, and we include you, your physician, family and caregivers as a part of that team.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment

We use Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment to treat wounds, which relies on 100% oxygen to help heal skin tissue and prevent infection. Developed in the 1940s, the technology was originally used to treat deep sea divers who suffered from decompression sickness...
